See Costs... http://dental-implants-houston.com/ Wed, 02 Nov 2011 02:14:07 +0000 Joomla! 1.5 - Open Source Content Management en-gb Dr. Barbara Johnson, DDS. Houston, TX. http://dental-implants-houston.com/barbara-johnson-dds-tx.html Dr. Barbara Johnson, DDS. Houston, TX.

Dr. Johnson is our principal dentist and sole owner of Dentiq. That makes her boss to her 7 associates :-)  As it relates to corresponding with Dr. Johnson, she fields emails every evening and she is most thorough. If you'd like to talk with Dr. Johnson, you should email us a couple of dates and good times to reach you back. She always makes time to answer questions. The only thing is that since she performs one full mouth reconstruction a day, her breaks are when they clinically make sense which typically is not not so convenient for planing purposes so please be understanding if it takes a few attempts to connect. Lastly, you're always welcome back here to have a chat face to face with Dr. Johnson and / or Dr. Hanna (implant surgeon).

Considering A Full Mouth Reconstruction

A full mouth reconstruction is a major decision and patients should feel completely confident that this is the right procedure for you as well as our center being the right implant center to have the procedure performed.

Just as a heads up, we are just entering our busy season which generally lasts through April. This dynamic creates such demand for the All-On-4 system in Houston that the makers of the All-On-4 rarely provide favorable payment terms. One last thing to look out for (not just with our center but any other center that performs the All-On-4) is the annual price increase that Nobel Biocare occasionally assesses in December / January. Most centers pass this price increase on to the patient to maintain dollar margins. It's not a huge difference maker but every penny counts in my book. I hope this helps.

Dental Implant Alternatives... http://dental-implants-houston.com/alternatives.html Dental Implant Alternatives...

Many of our patients will ask about dental implant alternatives. Generally speaking, dental implant alternatives range from root canal therapy, multi-unit bridges and dentures. All of these alternatives will typically be temporary so be sure to ask your dentist about the prognosis for the respective treatment that you are considering. In most cases, patients will end up enduring more treatments that will cost more money in the long run so be sure to do your research and always seek out a second or third expert opinion before making a treatment decision.

Dental Implant Procedures... http://dental-implants-houston.com/procedures.html Dental Implant Procedures...

Our center specializes in full mouth dental implant procedures that range from single-site dental implants (6 to 10 dental implants per arch), the All-On-4 dental implant bridge which is a non-removable procedure and permanent dentures. Single-site dental implants consist of six to ten implants per arch (upper and / or lower) that permanently fix all-porcelain and all-zirconia crowns and bridges to each dental implant. There's no procedure in full mouth implant dentistry that looks, feels and functions as naturally as single-site tooth replacements. The All-On-4 procedure provides four implants that secures a non-removable bridge that has 12 to 14 teeth with a titanium substructure. Our center also provides the "permanent dentures" procedure which secures two to four dental implants to each denture (upper and / or lower) so that the denture can not be removed or come loose without intention.

QUALIFYING CREDENTIALS
:
To be certain, Dentiq is the only comprehensive center in the world that performs full arch and full mouth reconstruction cases each and everyday with the precision, functionality and aesthetics that simply can not be found anywhere else.

  • Is the "Implant Specialist" a board certified "Periodontist" or "Oral Surgeon" or are they a general dentist who calls him or herself a specialist?
  •
  • Will the IV sedation be administered by a board certified Anesthesiologist or will the same specialist whom is placing the implants also co-administer IV sedation?
  •
  • Is the "Restorative Specialist" a board certified "Prosthodontist" or "Implant Restoration Specialist" or are they the same person who calls him or herself the "Implant Specialist" — A jack of all trades...
  •
  • Be sure to ask about the credentials and philosophy of the Cosmetic Dentist whom will design your smile makeover.
  •
  • Ask about their overall experience in performing FMR (full mouth reconstruction) cases and how often do they perform these cases?
  •
  • Ask about how they perform occlusion testing. Do they use old fashioned "bite, or wax paper" or do they use "computed guided pressure mapping" and emg technologies?
  •
  • Ask about their process in establishing therapeutic occlusion and case mechanics...
  •
  • Ask about their design philosophy in establishing naturally beautiful, full facial aesthetics (see Golden Ratio)
  •
  • Ask about laboratory capabilities and if they have a "Master Ceramist"
  •
  • Find out which dental implant system/s they offer (e.g. Nobel Biocare, Zimmer, Straumann and BioHorizons)— the more they have in stock, the better prepared they will be to meet your unique clinical needs.
  •
  • Be sure to ask about "in writing" guarantees and if they provide follow-up care.
  •
  • And of course, ask them to see pictures of their work highlighting full facial aesthetics (not the little before and after pictures... you want to see the details!)

II. FMR Smile Design

Dentiq Smile Design has pioneered a proprietary process that combines leading imaging, software and refinement technologies to evaluate color, shape, shade, symmetry, size and style with the artistic expressions of design masters (the master ceramist, the principal cosmetic dentist and of course, the patient). Every detail is incorporated into a digital smile design prior to casting to the temporary veneers (the prototypes). This stage of the protocol requires the master ceramist and the principal cosmetic dentist to submit their design recommendations independently. The patient can be as involved as they would like to be throughout every step of the smile design process. That said, we recommend letting the principal cosmetic dentist and master ceramist develop a design based on measurements, color contrasts, hue, chroma, translucency and applied principles. From this point, patients can typically better articulate design discretions that they would like incorporated into the next prototype for re-evaluation.

Golden Proportion

The physical components which make up the sense of beauty and attractiveness come down to balance and proportion. This natural law of beauty is known as Golden Proportion (or Golden Ratio 1.6: 1). Golden Proportion is an essential element in need of understanding, in order to create the perfect smile. With that said, Dr. Johnson and the Master Ceramist incorporate the 7 natural laws of beauty in smile design. Golden Proportion assembles your new smile with the natural shape, size and contour to best fit your face and jaw function. Beautiful and timeless smiles must be proportionate and remain in harmony with your unique facial features in order to successfully emphasize your true beauty. The roots of this theory can be traced back to hypotheses used during the renaissance, in both art and science. It is a mathematical equation based on the principles of ratio and geometric proportion. This relationship best conveys the philosophy of perfect aesthetic composition, using ratio and dimensional connection. The application of Golden Proportion principles can be applied to the human face. Golden Proportion has been equally applied to the practice of Cosmetic Dentistry, and where consideration is made to essential components of the ‘perfect smile’. These principles of symmetry and balance are the critical ingredients in the development of a ‘beautiful’ face and smile.

THE DIAGNOSTIC PHASE: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

Many patients who have compromised teeth or that wear dentures want to know if they are indeed a candidate for the All-on-4 procedure. The good news is that most people do meet the requirements to efficiently, effectively and safely perform the All On 4 procedure — in fact, 96% of our patients are candidates.  In  order to definitively determine who is an appropriate candidate for this  procedure, (or a treatment alternative) we utilize various diagnostic technologies including 3D imaging and pressure mapping.

At the first visit, hi-resolution photos, digital  x-rays, a 3D CAT scan, pressure mapping and a thorough clinical evaluation will take place  followed by expert explanation of the case diagnosis and treatment options inclusive of the "All On 4" and alternative treatments which can range from single-site implants to replace each missing tooth space, implant retained and implant supported dentures, mini implant solutions and non-implant options.  During this visit, impressions are taken for diagnostic modeling and diagnostic design (which will also be used to make the  replacement teeth), and a clear financial overview is presented.

THE SURGERY PHASE: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

For most cases, this phase involves the extractions, bone grafts (if necessary), bone re-contouring and the surgical placement of the 4 dental implants per upper and / or lower arch. The "All On 4" patient receives implant-secured teeth immediately following surgery — ONE-visit!

RECOVERY & FOLLOW-UP VISITS

Patients typically resume a full schedule of activities within 24 to 72 hours. Generally speaking, follow-up visits are 1, 4 and 12 weeks after surgery.  Specific post operative instructions will vary on a case by case basis. A modified diet is required until patients receive the final teeth, which incorporate concealed titanium reinforced framework OR an all-zirconia substructure. In the mean time, patients can eat anything that can be cut with a fork, and does not involve biting or tearing with your front teeth (e.g. hamburgers, salmon, pasta, cooked vegetables, etc). Hard foods and foods that require tearing such as hard breads, pizza, carrots, corn on the cob, steak, and crunchy and sticky snacks treats such as nuts, hard candy and gum should be avoided until otherwise instructed by the principal dentist.

Following surgery, the first 3 follow-up visits are simple thirty minute post-op / follow-up visits to ensure that everything looks, feels and heals as indicated. For traveling patients, these follow-ups will take place within a 2 day to 2 week span.

THE RESTORATIVE PHASE: OVERVIEW: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

The restorative phase can start 16 weeks after the initial surgery when the implants have fully integrated with the jawbone. At "The Prep" visit, the implants are prepared for master impressions so that the final teeth can be made. Depending on the smile design and revision requests, this final fabrication process takes 2 to 4 weeks at which point, the “final” teeth are secured. A standard adjustment visit is scheduled 1 to 2 weeks later to ensure that everything looks, feels and functions exactly as it should.

Week 16: The Prep (4 to 6 hours)

Week 18: The Finals (2 to 4 hours)

Week 20: Adjustments (1 hour)

Our exclusive protocols deliver uncompromising aesthetics and superlative strength, which makes our concealed titanium and/or monolithic zirconia reinforced teeth virtually unbreakable. Atop this framework is the uncanny artistry of our principal cosmetic dentist (Dr. Johnson) who designs a naturally beautiful smile (made with e.Max® Porcelain, all-ceramic Procera® or acrylic resin matrix) so that the "All On 4" teeth look as natural and beautiful as they are durable— A truly exceptional smile experience that lasts a lifetime. LOVE WHAT YOU SEE!

When bone grafting is indicated, our office incorporates GEM 21S®, which is a completely synthetic grafting system for bone and periodontal regeneration composed of purified recombinant growth factors. When indicated for guided tissue regeneration and ridge augmentation, Mucograft® Collagen Matrix is our first line treatment for periodontal and recession defects, alveolar ridge reconstruction for prosthetic treatment and localized ridge augmentation.

We proudly honor this treatment type for the life of the patient. At our center, only a board certified Implant Specialist, Prosthodontist/ Restorative Specialist, Cosmetic Dentist & an Anesthesiologist perform this type of procedure. Our center performs three to five "All On 4" cases per week.

SCHEDULING:

"Full Arch Dental Implants" typically involve 2 treatment visits.  [1] "The Surgery" visit at which time extractions, bone grafts, implants (and all clinically indicated procedures) are administered. You will leave this appointment with a non-removable, implant secured, bridge or individual teeth (4 to 8 hours).  [2] Six weeks (for SLActive cases) to six months (for All On 4 cases) later is "The Final Restoration" visit so that the final teeth with reinforced zirconium or titanium can be placed (4 to 8 hours).

If visiting from another state or country, we ask that you plan your stay to span a 2 day to 2 week duration each visit.  Also, please understand that we perform 5 to 7 full mouth cases a week. As such, our surgery scheduled is regularly committed 6 to 8 weeks in advance. Please plan accordingly.

DENTIQ MATERIALS:

As a comprehensive center, we plan and perform implant procedures for single-site implants to full arch "immediate load" reconstructions using Nobel Biocare, Zimmer, Straumann and BioHorizons implant systems. Our implant protocol with individual porcelain incorporates the SLActive® implant system, which is the only implant in the world that can be fully restored in 3 to 6 weeks. Our exclusive full arch and full mouth reconstruction protocols deliver uncompromising aesthetics and superlative strength, which makes e.Max® Porcelain (w/ micro-filled surface technology) virtually unbreakable. When bone grafting is indicated, our office incorporates GEM 21S®, which is a completely synthetic grafting system for bone and periodontal regeneration composed of purified recombinant growth factors.

LIFETIME GUARANTEE:

When you do your treatment with us, you'll do it once, and it will last a life-time... so we proudly honor the work that we do for the life of the patient.  These are the terms: the patient should complete, and maintain, all clinically necessary treatment; he or she should maintain their regularly scheduled recare visits (3 to 4 x's a yr); and, it should go without saying that the patient should be in good financial standing with our office.  In the event of an accidental injury, or an extraordinary circumstance occurs that compromises the integrity of the treatment, a plan to honor the treatment will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

FINANCIAL AGREEMENT:

All pricing incorporates full arch extractions, avleoplasty (bone re-contouring) bone grafts, ridge augmentation and the surgical placement of all clinically indicated dental implants that will permanently secure individual teeth or a non-removable bridge comprised of 12 to 14 teeth (per arch).

After a comprehensive consultation, you will receive a clear financial overview of the recommended treatment. Our fees reflect final, all-inclusive figures irrespective of additional clinical treatments that may be required for case revisions, refinements or changes. In other words, there will be no financial surprises nor increase in costs what-so-ever. We believe that our comprehensive diagnostic protocol (3D CT Scan, Pressure Mapping, Hi-Res Imaging, Digital X-Rays and Expert Clinical Consultation) provides the diagnostic due diligence to ensure that there will be no clinical surprises either; however, if any additional procedures are required (guided tissue regeneration, plasma rich protein, dental implant replacement or revision, gum grafts, bone grafts, ridge grafts, porcelain restorations, prosthetics, etc) for clinical and / or aesthetic outcomes, they will be performed at no additional cost.

   - Board certified Prosthodontist: John Dominici, DDS
   - Principal Cosmetic & Restorative Dentists: Barbara Johnson, DDS; Edwin Cordray, DDS; Shreed Sista, DDS

REPLACING ALL YOUR TEETH WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS

Upper and lower arch reconstructions can be comfortably performed under IV sedation in ONE visit. Implant supported solutions for full arch reconstructions vary from “single-unit” implants and crowns for each tooth space, to “all-on” porcelain bridges (with concealed titanium framework) that are permanently fixed and secured by 4 to 8 implants.

THE DIAGNOSTIC PHASE

At the first visit, hi-resolution photos, digital x-rays, a 3D CAT scan and a thorough clinical evaluation will take place followed by expert explanation of the case diagnosis and treatment options. During this visit, impressions are taken (to make the replacement teeth), and a clear financial overview will be presented.

THE SURGICAL PHASE

A few days to a few weeks later, the surgery takes place. Under non-IV or IV sedation the extractions, bone grafts (if necessary) and implants are administered. Patients can awaken with removable, or implant secured, “initial” teeth to return home with a beautiful smile. Patients resume a full schedule of activities within 24 to 72 hours. Follow-up visits are 1, 4 and 12 weeks after surgery.

THE RESTORATIVE PHASE

When the implants have fully integrated with your jawbone (4 weeks to 4 months later), the restorative phase takes place. During this visit the “final” teeth are placed.

OVERVIEW: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANT BRIDGE

A full upper and/or lower arch reconstruction can be comfortably performed under IV sedation in ONE surgical visit with the All-On-4 Dental Implant Procedure developed by the Swiss dental implant company Nobel Biocare.  This procedure uses four implants with the back implants tilted to increase the bone-to-implant contact, which enables the "immediate load" and "immediate function" of the replacement teeth.

For qualified patients, our office honors this treatment type for the life of the patient. At our office, only an Implant Specialist (Oral Surgeon or Periodontist), Prosthodontist and/or Restorative Dentist and a board certified Anesthesiologist performs this type of procedure. Our office performs the All On 4, or a comparable full mouth reconstruction procedure, at a frequency of four to five procedures per week.

THE "ALL ON 4" TREATMENT PROTOCOL

Generally speaking, our office implores a three-stage "All On 4" treatment protocol categorized by the following phases:

1. The Diagnostic Phase

2. The Surgical Phase

3. The Restorative Phase

For most cases, this phase involves the extractions, bone grafts (if necessary), bone re-contouring (if necessary) and the surgical placement of the 4 dental implants per upper and / or lower arch.

ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS TO: THE "ALL ON 4" DENTAL IMPLANT BRIDGE

Single-Site Implant Packages ($3,500 to $5,000ea or $44,000 per arch) - Replacing individual teeth with individual implants and crown restorations. This fee includes extraction, bone graft, membrane, guided tissue (if needed), the dental implant, the custom abutment and the final crown restoration. 99.99% of our implants are "single-stage" immediate implants. As a comprehensive dental center, we carry virtually every dental implant that is made with a range of 10 to 25 back-ups per implant.

Implant Retained Dentures ($7,700 to $12,500 per arch) - Implant retained dentures are held in place on the implants by clips. These are often referred to as “balls” or “locators”. The denture is much more stable than a conventional denture but they are removable. It does touch the gum and there can be some rocking motion so sore spots are still possible. When using this technique, we wait 3 to 6 months for the implants to fully integrate with the jaw bone before the denture can be held in lace by the clip / ball combination. During this healing period, the patient can still wear a conventional denture and does have the option to immediately secure the denture with additional mini dental implants.

Implant Supported Dentures ($17,500 to $21,500 per arch) - Bar overdentures – a fixed metal bar is supported by dental implants. The bar, in turn, supports a removable denture. In this scenario, the denture doesn't actually touch the gums so sore spots are eliminated. This technique requires a 3 to 6 month healing period before the denture can be supported by the bar. Again, during this period, a conventional denture can be worn while the implants integrate with the jaw bone and mini implants can be used as adjunctive therapy to immediately load the denture.

Permanent, Fixed, Non-Removable Teeth ($22,000 to $28,500 per arch) - Using the All-On-4 technique, we are able to provide patients with permanent, non removable teeth. This technique achieves the highest aesthetic results and there is usually no waiting for implants to integrate. Patients usually leave with entire arches of permanent teeth on the same day as surgery. The "All On 4" procedure incorporates full arch extractions, avleoplasty (bone re-contouring) bone grafts and the surgical placement of 4 to 6 dental implants that will permanently secure a non-removable bridge comprised of 12 to 14 teeth (per arch). "ALL ON 4" A full upper and/or lower arch reconstruction can be comfortably performed under IV sedation in ONE visit with the All-On-4 Dental Implant Procedure developed by the Swiss Implant maker Nobel Biocare. This procedure uses four to six implants with the back implants tilted to increase the bone-to-implant contact, which enables the "immediate load" and "immediate function" of the replacement teeth. Our office honors this treatment type for the life of the patient. At our office, only an Implant Surgeon, Prosthodontist/ Restorative Specialist & an Anesthesiologist performs this type of procedure. Our office performs the "All On 4" procedure at a frequency of: three to five procedures per week.

SLActive Implants (+$500ea) - This implant osseointegrates in just 3 to 4 weeks in contrast to traditional implants which require 3 to 4 months to heal.

Our mission, "take great care of great people" means that we take a diagnostically driven approach to exceptional dentistry. Our comprehensive center provides total quality assurance and singular accountability. In other words, when you do your treatment with us, you'll do it once, and it will last a life-time... so we proudly honor the work that we do for the life of the patient. These are the terms: the patient should complete, and maintain, all clinically necessary treatment; he or she should maintain their regularly scheduled recare visits (2 to 4 x's a yr); and, it should go without saying that the patient should be in good financial standing with our office. In the event of an accidental injury, or an extraordinary circumstance occurs that compromises the integrity of the treatment, a plan to honor the treatment will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Treatments that we can not provide a lifetime guarantee for include: traditional bridges, dentures, "mini" implants, grafts, orthodontics, composites, fillings and root canal therapy.

PAYMENTS: Please understand that we ask for payment at the time of impressions (or) at the time of scheduling (which ever comes first). Depending on the case, we ask for a 5 to 50% deposit, or the full prepayment (b) amount. In the event that you choose not proceed with treatment, and you make an effort in good faith to give adequate notice, the full case prepayment amount (less 5%, and any treatment that has been rendered) will be refunded to you by Dentiq within 30 days.

ADJUSTMENTS: 3% adjustment for any amount paid by check (a). 5% adjustment for the full case prepayment (b). Note that prepayment is due at the time of scheduling. FINANCING: Health care financing is available for credit qualified patients through GE Money, Citi Health and Chase Health Advance. Short-term financing terms range from 3.9% to 8.9% interest up to 24 months. Extended-term financing terms range from 9.9% to 14.9% interest up to 60 months.

PROBLEMS / CONCERNS: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

While there are significant advantages to the All On 4, there are also inherent risks the patient needs to be aware of.  A primary concern with this technique is the risk of failure. In the event of just one implant failure, the entire restoration may fail.  Load distribution over 4 vs. 6 vs. 8 implants is substantial.

Another myth about common problem areas associated with the All On 4 is that it is commonplace that the All On 4 patient will endure jaw atrophy that occurs in the posterior region of the jaw that leads to atrophy and eventually fracture susceptibility. This atrophy poses an increased risk of jaw fracture. Since the all on four technique only places implants in the anterior of the jaw, the bone in the posterior is not stimulated to remain and retain its dentistry; consequently, posterior jaw resorption can occur.

IV SEDATION OR ORAL CONSCIOUS SEDATION: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

IV Sedation: All On 4 Dental Implants Is there any pain or discomfort associated with this procedure? Will I feel anything? As with any surgical procedure, there are varying degrees of discomfort. For the "All On 4" patient, the surgical phase is performed under the complete comfort of IV sedation (administered by a board certified Anesthesiologist).   Postoperatively The majority of our "All On 4" dental implant patients comment on how surprised they were with the minimal discomfort they felt after the procedure. There will be minimal swelling, but it's nothing that cannot be controlled with ice and over the counter pain relievers. Patients typically resume a full schedule of activities within 24 to 72 hours. Specific post operative instructions will vary on a case by case basis. Immediate function cases (when we attach the teeth to the implants the same day), patients should maintain a soft / medium diet to allow for the implants to heal properly.  This diet should be followed for a period of 8 to 12 weeks.  In other words, nuts, hard candy, ice and other hard foods are contraindicated during this time period.

The All On 4 procedure ranges from $17,500 to $28,500 per arch (or) $35,000 to $57,000 for both the upper and lower arches (see All On 4 Cost Quotes to know more...).

ALTERNATIVE OPTIONS: ALL ON 4™ (FOUR) DENTAL IMPLANTS

Treatment Alternatives: All On 4 Dental Implants To state the obvious, for various clinical and / or financial reasons, not every patient is a good candidate for the "All On 4" dental implant procedure. The good news is that you have options...   All On 4 Versus Dentures A denture is a removable device that is controlled by the patient and needs to be removed for cleaning and maintenance. It sits on the gum line, or is supported by "prepared natural teeth", normally natural teeth that can no longer function as nature intended. In the case of a partial denture, it is attached using metal hooks to adjacent teeth - further leading to failure as it grinds against natural dentition and the gum line. Patients who are missing most or all of their natural teeth and are wearing dentures know the pain and discomfort brought on by these appliances, and most seek alternative treatment. In addition, dentures do not replace the tooth root, which in turn will cause the jaw bone to melt away due to lack of stimulation, causing even more pain and embarrassment for denture wearers. Now there are viable options to help restore your smile. And one cost effective, proven option is the All-on-4 procedure. This treatment provides new teeth that are affixed to 4 implants per jaw, and look, feel and function like naturally beautiful, healthy teeth. In fact, dental implants are the closest thing we have to natural teeth. And the implants stimulate bone growth, just like your natural tooth roots helping to eliminate that sunken facial collapse which is so prevalent with denture wearers. All On 4 Versus Dental Bridge

PERMANENT IMPLANT DENTURES

Final teeth for the "All On 4" procedure include both fixed prostheses, such as a fixed, non-removable implant bridge with a concealed titanium framework supporting acrylic veneers, or individual crowns cemented to the bridge framework, and removable solutions, such as acrylic over-dentures on a implant bar over-denture.

Non-Removable Teeth

  - Implant bridge w/ concealed titanium framework supporting acrylic or porcelain

  - Individual crowns cemented to the bridge framework

Removable Teeth

  - Acrylic over-dentures

  - Implant bar over-denture

How strong will my new teeth be, and will I be able to eat more easily than I can with dentures?" You will be able to eat just about anything without worrying about slippage or your teeth falling out. The bite force with implants is far greater than with dentures. Your bite force with dental implants is about 250 pounds per square inch, where as with dentures, it's about 6. Your new implant-supported bridge can be cleaned like natural teeth while in your mouth by brushing and flossing. Only your clinician can remove the prosthesis for periodical maintenance, if necessary. You now have a permanent solution to dentures and/or partials and a lifelong guarantee of worry free success.

Dental Implants Cost http://dental-implants-houston.com/cost.html HOME

DENTAL IMPLANTS COST

Dental Implants cost $1600 to $1950 for the surgical placement of the dental implant at our Houston office.  The implant crown, abutment, bone grafting (when indicated), sinus augmentation (when indicated) and / or other special needs should be considered and included in the overall treatment cost.  For instance, the Swiss made SLActive implant is the only implant in the world that osseointegrates in just 3 to 4 weeks time.  Learn more here...

The cost is seemingly high at first glance, but understanding that a team of highly trained professionals dedicated is required to ensuring you receive a beautiful and long lasting smile might make this price tag seem slightly less overwhelming.  Depending upon the conditions and requirements of each individual case, a single dental implant can cost around $1,000 to $5,000. Your specific circumstances may call for additional procedures requiring extra work for the posterior mandible, sinus elevation, bone regeneration, and the diameter needed for the successful placement of the implant. These additional procedures can cause the cost of a dental implant to rise significantly resulting in fees anywhere from 15,000 to $30,000 to complete treatment.  However, there is a common misconception that dental implant procedures are more expensive than the alternative restorative options available. This is simply not true. Actually, dental implants are much more cost effective than the other procedures used in restoring tooth loss. The other procedures available for tooth restoration will require repairs, maintenance, replacements, and additional procedures to preserve the facial structure and prevent additional tooth loss.

Dr. Paulo Malo, a dentist in Portugal, in cooperation with Nobel Biocare, has developed what he calls the "All-on-Four" technique for dental implants.

The problem he is trying to address is restoring the mouths of

patients who have lost all their teeth and don't have much bone left to retain dental implants. Often these patients require extensive bone grafting procedures, which is time consuming and expensive.

Dr. Malo found that if he placed all the implants in the anterior of the jaw, where there is usually better bone density, and if those implants were highly angled, they could provide stable support for a complete denture.

The radiograph and diagram below illustrate this technique.

All on Four Dental Implants
Here is a panographic x-ray of the four angled implants that have been placed.

All on Four Dental Implants
Placing a denture over
All-on-Four dental implants

You can see above that the implants are highly angled. But notice that the exposed tips of the dental implants, the part sticking out of the bone, are all pointed upward and are relatively parallel.

On the right you can see that when the denture is screwed on, the screws are all placed normally, because the angulation all occurs under the surface of the tissue.

But this technique isn't without its critics. Renowned implant dentist Dr. Arthur Chal of Phoenix who has pioneered other techniques, after thoroughly studying the all-on-four technique, is concerned about its risks. If one of the implants fails, the entire mouth has to be re-done, and he feels that this is an unacceptable level of risk. To read his comments, please see his All-on-Four dental implants page on his website, www.phoeniximplantdentist.com.

Other leading implant dentists have been reporting higher rates of failure with this technique. We advise you, before you have your dentist use this technique for you, that you be sure your dentist is highly experienced and willing to stand behind his or her work.

Please also see more information in Dr. Chal's web site on dental implant failure.

Patients who have compromised teeth, or have lost a tooth due to decay or injury, may experience self-consciousness to the point where they shy away from talking or smiling or embracing life. Tooth loss can also lead to occlusion (bite) irregularities, such as TMJ / TMD disorders by negatively effecting eating habits. Dental implants can restore quality of life as they provide a permanent solution for tooth loss. It is for this reason that implant solutions are often used alongside other restorative procedures for best results. Whether supporting a crown in restoring a single tooth, or a dental bridge in replacing several missing teeth, dental implants can provide a solution for qualifying candidates. A dental implant can even be used to stabilize dentures in order to reduce gum irritation and provide better stability.

Dentiq Dentistry is a comprehensive dental center in Houston specializing in dental implants. From simple recare appointments to complete smile makeovers (implant dentures and mini dental implants), our mission is the same "take great care of great people".

Mini Dental Implants Houston | Cost http://dental-implants-houston.com/mini-cost.html HOME

Mini Dental Implants

A recent strategy used by dentists is early intervention, meaning that implants are inserted into locations in which teeth have freshly been extracted. When successful, the procedure can take months off treatment because the osseointegration process is sped up. However, the candidacy for such treatment depends upon the anatomical factors within the extraction site. If the tooth site ends up being broader than the implant, the implant cannot be placed immediately after the extraction. In this case dental work must first be performed in order to ensure an ideal fit for the implant. As for small teeth and incisors with narrow spaces, the placement of mini implants is often used.

ALL ON FOUR DENTAL IMPLANTS, HOUSTON

With the "ALL ON FOUR DENTAL IMPLANTS" procedure, a full upper and/or lower arch reconstruction can be comfortably performed under IV sedation in ONE visit.  This procedure uses four implants with the back implants tilted to increase the bone-to-implant contact, which enables the "immediate load" of the replacement teeth.

The All-on-4 procedure was developed in the 1990s as a way to best restore the full arches of the upper and lower jaws. The procedure uses only four implants to secure all teeth in place hence, the name All-on-4. All-on-4 was developed by Nobel Biocare and European dentist Paulo Malo using bio-mechanics, computer simulation and clinical research. Their results provided patients with high quality full teeth restoration without the use of bone grafting in the shortest time possible. The All-on-4 procedure provides especially effective restoration of the upper jaw because longer and stronger implants can be secured in the back part of the jaw.  Previous treatments required patients to receive a total of six or more, with treatment extending throughout 18 months of treatment. The patients were then forced to leave the office without any teeth or a poor fitting temporary denture for over a year.

REPLACING MULTIPLE TEETH WITH DENTAL IMPLANTS

Just as with one missing tooth, several missing teeth, bridges or dentures can be easily treated in ONE day with a dental implant solution. Implant supported solutions for multiple teeth vary from “single-unit” implants and crowns for each tooth space, to “all-on” porcelain bridges that are permanently fixed and secured by 2 or more implants.

THE DIAGNOSTIC PHASE

At the first visit, hi-resolution photos, digital x-rays, a 3D CAT scan and a thorough clinical evaluation will take place followed by expert explanation of the case diagnosis and treatment options. During this visit, impressions are taken (to make the replacement teeth before the permanent teeth), and a clear financial overview will be presented.

PERMANENT TEETH | THE SURGICAL PHASE

For most cases, this phase involves the extraction, bone graft (if necessary) and surgical placement of the implants in ONE visit. Patients typically resume a full schedule of activities within 24 to 72 hours. Follow-up visits are 1, 4 and 12 weeks after surgery.

PERMANENT TEETH | THE RESTORATIVE PHASE

When the implants have fully integrated with the jawbone (4 weeks to 4 months later), the “final” teeth are secured. Multi-unit restorative options for multiple missing teeth include: individual implants restored with individual crowns, 3 to 4 unit implant bridges secured with 2 dental implants and various types of prosthetics secured with 2 to 4 implants.

THE IMPLANT PROCESS

One compromised, or missing tooth is easily treated in ONE visit with an “immediate” dental implant. A dental implant designed to replace a single tooth is made of three parts: The Titanium Post, which simulates the root of a pre-existing tooth by anchoring into jawbone; The Abutment, which fits over the implant just above the gum; and The Crown, which is fitted onto the abutment to complete the dental implant process.

THE DIAGNOSTIC PHASE

At the first visit, hi-resolution photos, digital x-rays, a 3D CAT scan and a thorough clinical evaluation will take place followed by expert explanation of the case diagnosis and treatment options.  During this visit, a clear financial overview will be presented.

THE SURGICAL PHASE

The extraction, bone graft (if necessary) and placement of the dental implant takes place in ONE  visit. Patients typically resume a full schedule of activities within 24 hours. Follow- up visits are 1, 4 and 12 weeks after surgery.

THE RESTORATIVE PHASE

When the implant has fully integrated with your jawbone  (3 weeks to 3 months later), the “final” implant crown is placed.  Dentiq restorations are made with the highest quality materials using a state-of-the art proprietary process until they are virtually unbreakable.

Full Mouth Implants http://dental-implants-houston.com/full-mouth-implants.html Full Mouth Implants

FULL MOUTH IMPLANTS | REPLACING ALL YOUR TEETH

Upper and lower arch reconstructions can be comfortably performed under IV sedation in ONE visit.  Full mouth implant supported solutions for full arch reconstructions vary from “single-unit” implants and crowns for each tooth space, to “all-on” porcelain bridges (with concealed titanium framework) that are permanently fixed and secured by 4 to 8 implants.

Under non-IV or IV sedation the extractions, bone grafts (if necessary) and full mouth implants are administered.

Everything Else http://dental-implants-houston.com/everything-else.html Everything Else  THE 411
By taking a small pill an hour before your visit, you will be relaxed by the time you arrive. Since you'll be too sedated to drive, you must be accompanied to and from your appointment by a friend or family member. You will be seated in a comfortable chair and covered with a warm blanket. Depending on your needs, we will administer more sedation. Before starting your treatment, we will make sure you are completely comfortable.

At our office, our dentists are trained and certified to administer class I and II sedation while our Anesthesiologists are trained and board certified to administer class III and IV sedation.

Class I allows the dentist to administer nitrous oxide. Class II Conscious Sedation is defined as “an induced controlled state of depressed consciousness.” This is the type of sedation being offered at virtually all the dental offices that advertise sedation. Class III Deep Conscious Sedation is defined as “the inability to respond purposefully to either physical stimulation or to verbal command but the patient retains the ability to independently and continuously maintain an airway”.  Class IV Sedation is general anesthesia. At Dentiq (den-teek) Dentistry we offer light to deep sedation including general anesthesia when necessary.

Dental Implant Crowns http://dental-implants-houston.com/dental-implant-crowns.html Dental Implant Crowns

REPLACING A SINGLE TOOTH

One compromised, or missing tooth is easily treated in ONE visit with an “immediate” dental implant. A dental implant designed to replace a single tooth is made of three parts: The Titanium Post, which simulates the root of a pre-existing tooth by anchoring into jawbone; The Abutment, which fits over the portion of the implant that is just above the gum; and The Crown, which is fitted onto the abutment to complete the process.

THE RESTORATIVE PHASE: IMPLANT CROWNS

When the implant has fully integrated with your jawbone  (3 weeks to 3 months later), the “final” implant crown is placed.  Dentiq restorations are made with the highest quality materials using a state-of-the art proprietary process until they are virtually unbreakable.
